Going to the dogs

As a lover of fine baking and our canine friends, what better way to start my new blog than with news hot from Sydney where one bakery has pushed the marketing envelope, and gone to the dogs. Sparkle Cupcakery at Surry Hills is now making, yes, you guessed it – pupcakes! If my two labradors ever get to hear of this we are all in big trouble.

The dog-version of everyone’s favourite mini cake is apparently made with ‘dog-friendly ingredients’ such as wholemeal flour, grated apple, apple juice and honey, topped with ground meaty doggy treats and a carob dollop in the shape of paw prints or dog bones.
